Southern 4-Ingredient Creamed Corn

This is one of those dishes people would gladly travel for—my uncle definitely has. It’s rich, buttery, and perfectly sweet, with tender corn in a creamy, velvety sauce that tastes like it took hours to make. The best part? It comes together with just a few simple ingredients, making it perfect when you want comfort food without the wait.

Serve it warm alongside roast chicken, meatloaf, ham, or grilled pork chops. It’s also great with mashed potatoes, green beans, or a fresh salad to balance the richness. Add some cornbread or dinner rolls to soak up every bit of that creamy sauce. Leftovers reheat beautifully and even make a great topping for baked potatoes or rice the next day.

Southern Creamed Corn (4 Ingredients)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups (20 oz) frozen corn kernels
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

Directions

  1. Add corn, cream, butter, and sugar to a medium saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the butter melts and everything is combined.
  3. Once it starts to bubble, reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Let it thicken into a rich, creamy sauce, then remove from heat and rest for a few minutes.
  5. Taste, adjust sweetness if needed, and serve warm.
