Simple Southern 4-Ingredient Biscuit Cobbler

Cobbler has long been a staple of Southern kitchens—traditionally made by using whatever fruit was available and topping it with a simple biscuit-style dough. Rustic, straightforward, and all about comfort, this version keeps things especially easy for busy evenings: just fruit, sugar, baking mix, and butter. It’s the kind of dessert you can quickly put together after a long day while handling emails, homework, or dinner prep, yet it still delivers a homemade taste.

Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream—the contrast between cold, creamy topping and hot, syrupy fruit is hard to beat. It works just as well as a sweet ending to a weeknight meal like grilled chicken or baked pork chops. For brunch, it pairs nicely with eggs and bacon, and when entertaining, you can serve it alongside coffee or tea with fresh berries to round out the spread.

Southern Biscuit Cobbler (4 Ingredients)

Ingredients
Fruit — 4 cups (fresh or frozen; peaches, berries, or a mix)
Granulated sugar — ½ cup, plus 1–2 teaspoons for sprinkling
Biscuit baking mix — 2 cups (such as Bisquick or similar)
Unsalted butter — ½ cup (1 stick), melted

Directions
Preheat Oven
Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.

Prepare Fruit
Place fruit in the dish, sprinkle with ½ cup sugar, and gently mix to combine.

Make Biscuit Dough
Combine the baking mix with melted butter until a thick, slightly shaggy dough forms.

Top Fruit
Drop spoonfuls of the dough over the fruit, leaving small gaps. Sprinkle with extra sugar if desired.

Bake
Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling around the edges. Cover loosely with foil if it browns too quickly.

Cool & Serve
Let the cobbler rest for 10–15 minutes to thicken before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
