My neighbor brought this to a potluck once, and everyone immediately asked for the recipe. It’s hard to believe it only takes 4 simple ingredients

This oven-baked 4-ingredient Amish chicken and green bean bake is the definition of an easy, comforting meal. As it cooks, the chicken releases flavorful juices that blend with the creamy sauce, creating a rich, savory layer over the tender green beans. Using bone-in, skin-on chicken helps keep the meat juicy while the skin turns perfectly golden and crisp in the oven.
Amish Chicken and Green Bean Bake
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken thighs or drumsticks (bone-in, skin-on)
- 24 oz frozen cut green beans (unthawed)
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
Directions:
- Preheat & prep: Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread the frozen green beans evenly across the bottom.
- Make the sauce: In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and dry onion soup mix until well combined.
- Assemble: Spoon the mixture over the green beans, spreading it loosely—it will melt and distribute as it bakes.
- Add chicken: Pat the chicken dry and place it skin-side up on top of the green beans.
- Bake: Cook uncovered for 50–60 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temp 165°F) and the top is golden. For extra crispiness, broil or move to the top rack for the last few minutes.
- Rest & serve: Let sit for about 5 minutes before serving so the sauce thickens slightly.
✨ A simple, hearty dish with rich flavor and minimal prep—perfect for busy nights or cozy family dinners.
