Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pan
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Crust
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth.
Add the flour and salt, stirring until a soft dough forms.
Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Step 3: Bake the Crust
Bake for 13–15 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and set aside while preparing the topping.
Step 4: Prepare the Topping
In a separate bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, and baking powder.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract, then beat until smooth and well blended.
Fold in the chopped nuts and shredded coconut until evenly distributed.
Step 5: Add Topping and Bake
Spread the topping mixture evenly over the warm crust.
Return the pan to the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
Step 6: Cool and Cut
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
Once cooled, cut into squares or rectangles and serve.
