Every Christmas, I have to make this in the middle of the night and hide it from my family if I want any of it to survive

These indulgent dessert bars have a soft cake-mix base topped with a rich, creamy, and absolutely irresistible layer of sweet cream cheese filling.
Ooey Gooey Bars
Ingredients – Crust
- Yellow cake mix (dry, unprepared) – 1 box
- Butter (melted) – 8 tablespoons
- Egg – 1
Ingredients – Gooey Layer
- Cream cheese (softened) – 8 oz
- Eggs (beaten) – 2
- Powdered sugar – 16 oz
How to Make Ooey Gooey Bars
Step 1: Preheat Oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Make the Crust
In a medium bowl, mix together the dry cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg until smooth. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch pan. Set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the Gooey Layer
In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs and continue mixing for 1–2 minutes. Stir in the powdered sugar until fully combined.
Step 4: Bake
Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust. Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still slightly soft. Avoid overbaking.
Step 5: Cool and Serve
Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting—this is key for that perfectly gooey texture.
