The Famous Three-Envelope Roast

Three-Envelope Roast
This Three-Envelope Roast is a slow-cooker legend, often called the savory cousin of “Mississippi Pot Roast.” The combination of Italian, Ranch, and Brown Gravy mixes creates a deeply savory, slightly tangy, and richly flavorful profile. By whisking the mixes with water first, you get a smooth, velvety gravy that seeps into the meat as it cooks, avoiding uneven seasoning “hot spots.”
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Chuck roast | 3 lb |
| Water | 1 cup |
| Dry Italian seasoning mix | 1 package |
| Dry Ranch seasoning mix | 1 package |
| Dry brown gravy mix | 1 package |
| Salt and black pepper | To taste |
Instructions
1. Season the Meat: Generously season the chuck roast on all sides with salt and black pepper.
2. Into the Pot: Place the seasoned roast in the bottom of your crockpot.
3. Whisk the “Triple Threat” Sauce: In a small bowl, combine Italian seasoning, Ranch seasoning, and Brown Gravy mix. Add 1 cup water and whisk until fully dissolved and smooth.
4. Pour Over Roast: Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the roast, making sure it’s well-covered.
5. Slow Cook: Cook on High for 4 hours. (Optional: For even more tender, “melt-in-your-mouth” meat, cook on Low for 8 hours.)
6. Baste and Serve: Occasionally open the lid and spoon juices from the bottom of the pot over the roast. When the beef shreds easily with a fork, it’s ready to serve.
