Throw frozen hash brown patties in the baking dish and 4 other ingredients to get a meal so delicious your family will be begging for more!

This 5-Ingredient Baked Hash Brown Patty Casserole takes the classic potato bake up a notch by using frozen hash brown patties as a ready-made base layer. As the patties bake in a simple mixture of eggs and milk with diced ham and sharp cheddar, they soften on top while developing a crisp, golden bottom. The result is a hearty breakfast casserole that’s fluffy inside, crispy underneath, and perfect for anything from holiday brunch to an easy weekend meal.
5-Ingredient Baked Hash Brown Patty Casserole
Ingredients:
- 8–10 frozen hash brown patties
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 1/2 cups cooked ham, diced
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Step 1: Create the Base
Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Arrange the frozen hash brown patties in a single, even layer on the bottom.
Tip: Keep them in one layer without overlapping so they cook evenly and develop a crispy underside.
Step 2: Add the Filling
Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded cheese along with all the diced ham evenly over the patties.
Step 3: Pour the Egg Mixture
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth. Slowly pour this mixture over the casserole, making sure it spreads evenly.
Tip: Pour gradually to keep the ingredients from shifting to one side.
Step 4: Top and Bake
Add the remaining 1 cup of cheese on top. Bake on the center rack for 40–50 minutes.
Tip: The casserole is ready when it looks puffed and the center is set. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil for the last 10 minutes.
Step 5: Let It Rest
Remove from the oven and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes before cutting.
Tip: Resting helps everything firm up, making it easier to slice into neat portions.
