Foil Packet Party: Just 5 ingredients. Make mini foil-wrapped potatoes and stack them like bricks everyone will love what’s inside.

These Slow Cooker Foil-Wrapped Potato Packets are an easy, flavorful side dish that uses a simple steam method to cook the potatoes to perfection. Sealing them in foil helps lock in moisture, allowing the butter and seasonings to fully coat each potato while keeping them tender—not dry or overly soft. Serving them in individual packets also makes for a fun and rustic presentation.

5-Ingredient Slow Cooker Foil-Wrapped Potato Packets

Main Components

IngredientAmount
Baby potatoes (Yukon Gold or red)1 1/2 lbs
Unsalted butter, cut into pieces4 tablespoons

Seasoning

IngredientAmount
Kosher salt1 1/2 teaspoons
Black pepper1 teaspoon
Dried seasoning blend (Italian, garlic-herb, etc.)1 teaspoon

Directions

Step 1: Prep and Season
Rinse and dry the baby potatoes. In a large bowl, toss them with salt, pepper, and your chosen seasoning blend until evenly coated.

Step 2: Add Butter
Add the butter pieces to the bowl and toss again so they’re distributed throughout the potatoes.

Step 3: Create the Packets
Tear off four pieces of heavy-duty foil (about 12×12 inches each). Divide the potato mixture evenly among them, placing it in the center. Fold and seal each packet tightly to keep the steam inside.

Step 4: Cook
Place the packets seam-side up in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or on HIGH for 2–3 hours, until the potatoes are tender.

Step 5: Serve
Carefully remove the packets and open them away from your face to avoid steam. Serve directly in the foil or transfer the potatoes and buttery juices to a dish.
