Helpful Tips
- Drain the cooked meat thoroughly—excess grease can keep the crust from setting properly.
- Whisk the batter until completely smooth—any lumps will remain after baking.
- Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before cutting for cleaner slices.
Instructions
1. Prepare the Filling
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the meat with the onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
Spread the mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Make the Batter
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, flour, and milk until smooth.
Stir in the mozzarella, Parmesan, and any optional vegetables.
3. Assemble & Bake
Pour the batter evenly over the meat mixture—do not stir.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes, or until set and golden on top.
Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
