Scatter frozen green peas over raw dry shell pasta, paired with these 3 ingredients, into a ceramic baking dish for a creamy dinner that’s the one e

This Oven-Baked Spring Pea Shell Pasta is an easy, one-pan way to create a creamy, comforting dish without standing over the stove. As the pasta bakes, it releases starch into the broth and cream, forming a rich, velvety sauce. The peas cook right in the dish, adding a fresh pop of flavor, while Parmesan melts throughout for a savory finish.
Oven-Baked Spring Pea Shell Pasta
Ingredients
- 8 oz medium pasta shells (dry)
- 1½ cups frozen green peas
- 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Prep the dish
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish. Spread the dry pasta evenly in the dish and scatter the frozen peas on top.
2. Mix the liquid
In a bowl, whisk together the broth, cream, Parmesan, salt, and pepper until well combined.
3. Bake covered
Pour the mixture over the pasta. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes to allow the pasta to soften.
4. Bake uncovered
Remove the foil and stir gently. Return to the oven uncovered for another 10–15 minutes, until the sauce thickens and becomes creamy.
5. Rest and serve
Let the pasta sit for about 5 minutes before serving so the sauce can fully thicken and coat the shells.
