Southern 3-Ingredient Pecan Pralines

When I want something homemade, quick, and seriously snackable, these pralines are my go-to. Inspired by classic Southern candy-shop treats, they’re stripped down to the basics—no thermometer, no complicated steps. Just rich brown sugar caramel, buttery goodness, and plenty of pecans.

The batch in the photo? My husband finished half before the bake sale even started, which tells you everything about how hard they are to resist. Crisp, chewy, and packed with deep caramel flavor, they disappear fast.

Serve them piled on a plate or right off the foil once cooled. They’re perfect with hot coffee, tea, or a cold glass of milk. Add them to a dessert table alongside something creamy like vanilla ice cream or cheesecake for balance. They also travel well, making them great for bake sales, holiday gifts, or sharing at work.

3-Ingredient Southern Pecan Pralines

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pecan halves (toasted)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

Directions
Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease it. Keep it nearby for quick use.

Toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 4–6 minutes, stirring often until fragrant. Set aside.

In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter with the brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and glossy.

Cook for 3–5 minutes, until the mixture is bubbling and thick but still pourable.

Remove from heat and quickly stir in the pecans until well coated.

Drop spoonfuls onto the prepared foil, leaving a little space between each.

Let cool at room temperature for 30–45 minutes until firm. Peel off and serve, or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days—if they last that long.
